About Us

Our story

Cedars refers to the cedar tree, the national symbol of Lebanon. The majestic cedar tree represents quality, strength, beauty, and dignity—values we incorporate into our dishes, service, and ambiance.

We have been bringing these values to life since 2007 at our unique location on the Westlandgracht in Amsterdam. With a waterfront terrace and free parking, we’ve built a loyal base of returning guests over the years.

Cedars is about passion, family, and tradition. As proud ambassadors of authentic Lebanese cuisine, we aim to offer not just delicious dishes but also the warm culture for which Lebanon is known.

Founded with the desire to bring the flavors and aromas of Lebanon to Amsterdam, our Middle Eastern roots and love for hospitality are at the core of everything we do. Cedars is about connection: families enjoying a meal together or couples sharing an intimate dinner.

Our team of passionate professionals strives for perfection. Every detail, from preparing authentic Lebanese dishes to presenting a glass of Lebanese wine like Château Heritage, is executed with care.

See you soon at Cedars.

About the Lebanese cuisine

Lebanon, situated on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea, is a small but densely populated country blessed with a unique climate. The striking combination of mountains and coastline produces a rich variety of ingredients, making Lebanese cuisine exceptional.

The authentic Lebanese kitchen is one of the oldest and most versatile culinary traditions in the world. At Cedars, we bring this rich heritage to life with dishes that showcase the best of this cuisine. Over centuries, Lebanon has absorbed influences from travelers passing through the region.

Iraqis introduced dates, Palestinians enriched the cuisine with dried fruits, Armenians brought beef, Italians added pasta, and the French introduced wine and vinegar.

Fresh herbs like mint and parsley, spices like sumac and za’atar, and ingredients like tahini and pomegranate form the foundation of our dishes. Classic dishes like hummus, tabbouleh, kibbeh, and falafel reflect this history.

At Cedars, we bring all these wonderful influences together. Every dish tells a story of Lebanon’s rich history and culinary passion.
